Studio EVIG re-platform to Shopify

When my client came to me, her small e-commerce business was at a crossroads. Built on Squarespace, her online store was functional — but it wasn't working hard enough for her. The purchase journey felt clunky, inventory management was a headache (especially when selling face-to-face at markets and fairs), and the platform costs weren't justified by what she was getting in return.

There was a personal dimension too. Her business partner had recently stepped away from the venture. The platform and processes she'd relied on had been designed with two people in mind. She needed a setup that worked for one — leaner, more manageable, and built around how she actually operates.

Retaining brand personality while improving user experience

The goal wasn't to start from scratch. My client had invested in her brand, and that equity was worth preserving. Her products are hand-dyed using natural plant-based dyes — a craft-led process that sits at the heart of everything she does — and that identity needed to come through as clearly in the new build as it did in the old one.

The brief was to migrate thoughtfully: keep what was working visually, fix what wasn't working functionally, and build something she could run with confidence on her own. All existing brand collateral — logo, colour palette, typography and tone — was carried across into the new Shopify build, ensuring returning customers felt at home while benefiting from a significantly improved experience under the hood.

A smoother purchase journey for customers and reduced cost to the business

The Shopify build was structured around reducing friction at every stage of the customer journey. Clearer product navigation, a more intuitive checkout flow, and better calls-to-action were all introduced to move users from browsing to buying with less effort.

A thorough review of her requirements against Shopify's plan tiers identified a more cost-effective option than her previous Squarespace subscription — without sacrificing the features she needed. The switch delivered a meaningful reduction in monthly outgoings.

Designed for a Solo Operator

With her business partner no longer involved, simplicity and autonomy were priorities. The store was built to be easy to manage independently — from updating product listings and processing orders to running promotions — without needing technical support for day-to-day tasks.

One of the most tangible improvements was in stock control. Shopify's built-in inventory tools gave my client a real-time view of her stock levels, with updates syncing whether a sale happened online or in person at a fair. Using Shopify's Point of Sale functionality, she can now process face-to-face transactions through the same system, keeping everything in one place and eliminating the manual reconciliation she'd been doing before.

Early results

It's still early days, but the data is encouraging. Since launch, the site has seen an uplift in page interactions, increased dwell time, and a rise in completed purchases — all strong indicators that the new experience is resonating with visitors and converting more effectively than before.

“Working with Sam on moving my website from Squarespace to Shopify has been such a positive experience. She made what felt like a very daunting transition incredibly smooth and manageable from start to finish.

Sam is patient, knowledgeable, and always quick to help whenever questions come up. One of the most valuable parts of the process was the library of clear, helpful videos she created, which made learning the new Shopify system so much easier and gave me confidence to manage things myself moving forward.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone considering a move to Shopify.”
